The terror attacks on October 7, and the war that followed it, caught us in the final stretch of preparations for the 11th International Photography Festival which was scheduled to open at the beginning of November 2023.

The war is not over yet, and its results will accompany us for a long time. However, we decided to open the postponed festival this upcoming spring.

The festival will take place as planned, at the Enav Cultural Center and Ofer Garden complex in Tel Aviv, and will present dozens of exhibitions from Israel and abroad. Several new exhibitions will be added to the festival, including an exhibition dealing with the global refugee crisis and the Meitar 2024 exhibition which will focus on photographs of the evacuated residents of the Negev and the Galilee and the harsh reality imposed on them.

We hurt the horrible consequences, the bloodshed, and the innocent victims of both sides of this war. Today, more than ever, we believe in the importance of culture and art as leading values in a civilized society. We believe in the power of photography to speak out, raise awareness, open a discussion, and inspire action.

Open, free, uncensored, undefined, unrestricted, unthemed

The festival is the annual pinnacle event of PHOTO IS:RAEL, a non-profit, public benefit company established to fulfill its vision of social outreach and dialogue between art and Israeli’s diverse communities. From the outset, the company has provided platforms for exhibitions, research and has shone a light on artistic and social subjects through the language of photography.

The events will occupy the Enav Cultural Center, in the Center’s hall and transparent lobby, as well as the Gan Ofer complex and roof.
During 2024, the exhibitions will travel to Israel’s social and geographical peripheries, and be displayed in additional locations across Israel.
